CHIANTI TOUT ITINERARY
Enjoy a charming experience in one of the most fascinating area of Tuscany, known all over the world for its wine and its countryside of unforgettable appeal. In Chianti region woods alternate with vineyards and olive groves, in a landscape dotted with Romanesque parish churches, farmhouses, villas and castles of rare beauty.
The first stop of the tour is in the heart of the Florentine Chianti Classico, in a small local Winery. Here the owner will lead you through the secrets of winemaking and enjoy a delicious wine tasting of accompanied by local products.
The tour continues then to the picturesque medieval village of Greve, birthplace of the navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano (who have given his name to the famous New Yorker bridge). In Greve in Chianti takes place the most important wine fair of the Chianti region: “THE RASSEGNA OF CHIANTI CLASSICO” every year in half September
Here, you will have free time to admire the famous triangle main square where was taken the ancient “market”; this special square has characteristic arcades that frame the local artisan shops.
Continuing along the historical “Via Chiantigiana”; you will cross the Chianti Classico area, admiring the breathtaking views of Tuscan rolling hills. Then you will reach a family-run Winery, which stands out for the excellent quality of its wines. Here you will be warmly welcomed by its passionate winemaker and after the guided tour of the cellars and the lovely aromatic garden, you will delighted by the tasting of four different wines and local products.
When the tour is run in Summer, the last stop is Castellina(*), a fortified hilltop, medieval village with Etruscan origin. Castellana in Chianti is well-know for its ancient fortress. The tour leader will guide you to discover the charming historical center and its picturesque houses, squares and shops.
