The third installment of the five year exhibit “The Days of Rome” in Rome’s Capitolini Museum is a must see this spring before its closure on May 5th, 2013. Titled “The Age of Balance”, this exhibit highlights the Golden Age of Rome and its incredible emperors, such as Trajan and Marcus Aurelius. Within the exhibition, the works on display highlight the years of Roman history between 98 – 180 A.D.
Walking through the exhibit, one can truly appreciate the wealth and prosperity of this time in Ancient Rome. Marble statues, bronze and terracotta works, and perfected sculptures represent only the highest quality and stylistic value. It comes as no surprise to find out that during these years, Rome and its surrounding provinces were at a rare social equilibrium. The “Age of Balance” allowed artisans to flourish and this exhibit highlights the coinciding social comfort and artistic excellence of the time.
Allow yourself some time to observe the six sections of this exhibition and transport yourself back into Ancient Rome. Imagine a rare period of stability and prosperity, led by the powerful emperors Trajan and Marcus Aurelius. This exhibition holds sculptures and marble works that do a great job of enhancing the visitor’s understanding of the Golden Age of the Roman Empire.
Make sure to plan a visit to this extraordinary exhibit before it closes on Sunday, May 5th, 2013.
